Bushido Martial Arts offers a full Swordsmanship/Iaido curriculum with classes held each week.
Current Bushido Martial Arts members and non Bushido Martial Arts members can join the classes, however, non Bushido Martial Arts members will need to join up and become Bushido Martial Arts members.
Participants will initially require just a bokken, preferably with a saya (scabbard) for practice. A number of bokken with saya and iaito katana will be available for hire each lesson on a first come first served basis.
Students will require a standard bokken in addition to a sword as contact drills will be performed and bokken with saya are not suitable, neither are iaito katana.
Before attempting their first examination, participants will be required to have a keikogi, hakama and obi. Before attempting their second examination, participants will need to have badges sewn in to place. Before their third examination, an iaito katana, approved by the class instructor, will need to be purchased.
Items such as tabi, sword cleaning kits and sword carry bags are optional yet highly recommended.
All of these items can be purchased from your Instructor or directly from GK Martial Supplies.
Bushido Martial Arts members will not need to pay an additional membership fee as they are already members of Bushido Martial Arts. Non Bushido Martial Arts members will need to pay their membership fee when joining the class.
Tuition fees will be $90.00 for juniors, $95.00 for intermediate, and $100.00 for adults per term. No family discounts will be available. Also, these tuition fees are in additional to, and completely separate, from any Karate fees.
Ranks will be the similar to those in the Bushido Martial Arts Karate curriculum. There will only be a single set of examination requirements. Juniors will need to perform the same requirements as the adults.
Examination fees are yet to be determined however will most likely be similar to the Bushido Martial Arts Karate examination fees.
If you are interested in joining the classes, please email the Head Instructor to register your interest and secure your place. Please do not approach the Head Instructor with a verbal interest as this could mean you will not be allocated a place in the class.
Places in the class will be issued on a first come first served basis and the class size will be limited for safety reasons.
